In light of recent bans to gender affirming care for minors/trans youth and a proposed federal ban of gender affirming care many trans people are looking to move to safer states or out of the US. At this time moving to a state with a Shield Law protects patients and providers from prosecution from other states. Currently (as of November 11th 2024) Illinois as affirmed they are willing to protect trans people and those looking to receive abortion care.
